ClarkDietrich Universal Bypass Clips Video Script
Attaching exterior curtain wall studs to the building while accommodating movement? , Universal Bypass Clips offer a smart solution! These versatile clips provide either a rigid connection or allow for vertical building movement up to 3 inches, independent of your the cold-formed steel framing.
Ideal for medium to larger standoff conditions, Universal Bypass Clips are available in standard lengths of 6, 8, 10, and 12 inches.
Whether you need a fixed connection or one that allows for vertical movement – up to 1 ½ inches up and 1 ½ inches down – these clips have you covered.
While Universal Bypass Clips are a great all-around solution, we also offer alternatives like the Extended FastClip™ and Extended Uni-Clip™ for specific project needs.
Say goodbye to shims and scabs! These clips offer a fast, one-piece universal installation – no left or right-handed versions to worry about. They're also specifically designed to simplify welding. These clips are designed for efficient, one-piece installation, eliminating the need for shims or scabs. Their universal design means there are no left- or right-handed versions to manage. Additionally, they are designed to simplify the welding process.
For deflection applications, each Each clip comes with our proprietary deflection screws. These are engineered to provide frictionless slip connections, ensuring smooth vertical movement. You'll even get a bag of 80 screws included!
Installation for a Rigid Connection is as follows:
- For a rigid connection, attach the Universal Bypass Clip to the cold-formed steel framing using six #10-16 minimum self-drilling screws for 14 gauge, or six #12-14 minimum self-drilling screws for 12 gauge, through the provided clip holes.
- Connect the clip to the building structure using screws, welds, or powder-actuated fasteners. Ensure mechanical fasteners are located on the embossed marks along the scored line of the 1 7/8-inch flange. Attach building anchors according to the manufacturer’s instructions, through these embossments. Remember, anchors should be no more than ¾ inch from the bend on the short leg. Always follow the Design Engineer’s details if there are any discrepancies.
And here’s the Installation steps for a Deflection Connection:
- For a deflection connection, attach the Universal Bypass Clip to the cold-formed steel framing using three of the included #14 proprietary deflection screws through the three slotted holes.
- Position these screws within the slots to allow for the specified vertical building deflection.
- Connect to the building structure using screws, welds, or powder-actuated fasteners through the embossed marks on the scored line, ensuring the connection allows for the anticipated vertical movement. Again, follow the Design Engineer’s details if there are discrepancies.
